Seems I'm not as non-dependent on coffee/espresso as I thought I was

This morning, I finished my practice a little later than usual. Since I had a morning class to teach, this meant that I had to rush out of the house without my usual post-practice espresso. Made it through my class, and then decided to just skip breakfast and go straight to lunch (it was already close to noon). I grabbed a little container of pasta labelled "Vegetarian" in the cafeteria, and ate it with some juice.

I felt really heavy and sluggish and sleepy for about half an hour after that. I honestly can't remember the last time I had a post-lunch slump. I'm still trying to decide if today's slump was caused by (1) whatever it was that called itself "Vegetarian" (Note to self: Not everything labelled "Vegetarian" is good for you), or by (2) the fact that I did not have any espresso earlier in the day.

If (2), then it seems that I am not as coffee non-dependent as I thought I was. Hmm... No Coffee, No Prana?

Well, maybe I'll go get some espresso now. Oh, and I know that this post is very banal and probably has nothing to do with yoga. I guess I'm having one of my blogging dry spells. Don't really have anything wise, profound or interesting to say (which assumes, of course, that what I usually blog about is wise, profound or interesting. Questionable assumption.).

  1. check out David Garrigues's clips on Diet and Ashtanga(on his website under videos) white pasta is the devil, could be why you felt so sleepy:) As for coffee, ya know, I practice at 6am, I used to think I needed it but in fact, I really do not! I have a hot bath instead, relaxes my muscles, makes me sweat more( I know u don't need more of that:))I do enjoy a hot beverage in the wee hours though, I'm gravitating towards Green Tea( the real stuff, it's really green, not brown-ish) Try it if you like:)

    1. Thanks for your suggestions, JayaK. My apologies for the slowness in responding: I took a couple of days away from blogging (needed to get away from the blogosphere a little). Yes, white pasta is the devil; it has so many calories, and so little nutrients. I need to eat less stuff made from white flour in general. Don't you think it's scary how it's possible in the industrialized world to be so overfed and yet undernourished (or even malnourished)?

  2. Puh-lease, do not get me started, the amount of crap that is passed off as food frightens me, with GMO's, Fake sweeteners, HFC(hi fructose corn suryp),Monsanto.....I could go on. I'm not saying everyone should eat brown rice and veggies everyday, forever(organic) but maybe it's a start toward more nutrition and less overall consumption.. It's ironic how you posted about the Anusara thing and putting blind trust in an individual and basically getting what they deserve, same with trusting the FDA! I mean how many drug recalls and they promote the dairy counsel( not hating, just disagree)and antibiotics in animal foods! See, I told you!:)
I agree with your post about really how much can you blog about when it comes to practice....a lot of the time, I don't even tell anyone about my progresses because 1) they are mine and 2) sometimes I feel like it takes the magic out of it....it think it goes back to 99% practice and 1% theory, meaning, we just do it, full stop:)
P.S. just enjoying my cuppa, organic Japanese matcha and green tea in unbleached bags:)
